Takoradi Technical University Holds 26th Congregation, Graduates Over 3,700 Students

Takoradi Technical University (TTU) has successfully organized its 26th Congregation Ceremony, marking a significant milestone in the academic journey of thousands of students who completed their programmes during the 2024/2025 academic year.

The graduation ceremony brought together university management, government representatives, traditional authorities, parents, guardians, and other stakeholders to celebrate academic excellence, innovation, and professional readiness.

Over 3,700 Students Graduate Across Multiple Programmes

A total of 3,750 students were awarded certificates across various academic levels and disciplines. These included:

  • Bachelor of Technology (BTech) Degrees
  • Higher National Diplomas (HND)
  • Diplomas of Technology
  • Competency-Based Training (CBT) Certificates

The wide range of programmes highlights Takoradi Technical University’s commitment to technical education, practical skills development, and industry-focused training.

Vice-Chancellor Reaffirms Commitment to Excellence

Delivering the Vice-Chancellor’s address, Reverend Professor John Frank Eshun emphasized the university’s dedication to producing graduates who are not only academically sound but also innovative, ethical, and industry-ready.

According to him, Takoradi Technical University continues to strengthen its partnerships with local industries, international institutions, and development organizations to enhance research, student exchange programmes, and hands-on learning experiences.

He encouraged graduands to remain disciplined, adaptable, and forward-thinking as they transition into the professional world, adding that success requires continuous learning and responsible decision-making.

Graduands Urged to Be Agents of National Development

Professor Eshun advised graduates to use their knowledge and technical expertise to contribute meaningfully to national development, particularly in areas such as technology, manufacturing, healthcare, engineering, and entrepreneurship.

He further cautioned against shortcuts to success, stressing the importance of integrity, hard work, and innovation in building sustainable careers.

Government Commends Role of TVET Institutions

Speaking on behalf of the Western Regional Minister, the Municipal Chief Executive of the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly, Abdul Majeed Dokurugu, congratulated the graduating students for their resilience and commitment to education.

He highlighted the critical role of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Ghana’s industrialization agenda and reiterated government support for technical universities across the country.

According to him, institutions like Takoradi Technical University are essential in producing skilled manpower needed to drive economic growth and reduce unemployment.

Outstanding Students Receive Special Recognition

As part of the ceremony, several students were honoured for exceptional academic performance and dedication. Awards presented included:

  • Certificates of Excellence
  • Cash Prizes
  • Laptop Computers

The Overall Best Graduating Student, Judith Nana Abena Nti, emerged from the Medical Laboratory Technology programme, earning widespread praise for her outstanding academic achievement.

The 26th Congregation also reflected Takoradi Technical University’s steady growth in infrastructure, academic programmes, and research output over the years. University officials expressed optimism about the institution’s future, noting ongoing efforts to expand facilities and introduce new industry-relevant courses.
